So You’re Heading To The 2016 Jackie Howe Festival…

Posted on 31st August 2016

Fantastic! This year’s program is set to be our best yet and we’re looking forward to having you visit us here at the Woolshed to experience a glimpse of pioneering life. Before you set out for the day, don’t forget to download the full schedule to help you better plan where you want to be and when! If you’re still planning your visit why not check out our top 10 activities not to be missed at this year’s festival?

If you’ve been to The Woolshed at Jondaryan before, you’re a pro and will find your way there with no problem. For visitors coming out this way for the first time, The Woolshed is located halfway between Toowoomba and Dalby (about 30-minutes from either city). If you’re travelling from Brisbane and the Gold Coast it is about a 2 and a half hour drive. Take a look at our map for how to make your way out to The Woolshed. Why not plan a little extra time to stop in Toowoomba for a coffee at Red Bench Cafe, The Finch or a number of great local eateries The Garden City is home to.

If you arrive early enough, we’d love to invite you to celebrate the official opening of the Jackie Howe Festival on Friday September 1 at 6pm outside of the Woolshed Cafe. There will be a cash bar for any beverage purchases.

Now, down to a little housekeeping to make your 2016 Jackie Howe Festival experience one of the best outback experience you’ll ever have.

Weather

While we’d love to know exactly how the weather will be during the festival we’re not able to guarantee sunny skies for the duration of the weekend. The current forecast looks like there may be some cloud cover and possible showers with the sun shining bright for Father’s Day on the Sunday. With that in mind, think about bringing an umbrella, light jacket or rain jacket with you. For up-to-date weather on the day check out the Bureau of Meteorology website

Pack a bag!

If you’ve forgotten to slip, slop, slap there’s not many shops out this way that you can just duck into for supplies. We reckon your best bet is packing a bag of supplies to bring with you and remember to pack things like a hat, sunscreen, water, and a light jacket.

Need to collect your wristbands on the day?

You will need to wear your festival wristband throughout the event and you should have received an email confirming your ticket information. Keep this handy - you’ll need to to collect your wristbands. If you haven’t picked up your wristbands from one of our collection venues prior to the festival, you can pick these up from the Woolshed’s Groups and PrePaid Entry lanes every day throughout the weekend from 8am daily.

If you are Camping or Caravaning at the Jondaryan Woolshed for the festival, please pick up your tickets when you check in at the Woolshed.

We’re here! Where can we park?

The first gate entry when you arrive at The Woolshed will lead you to our dedicated Festival parking area. The cost of parking is a gold coin donation to The Endeavour Foundation. Unfortunately, our parking attendants won’t have EFTPOS facilities so please remember to bring cash with you and once you’ve made your donation follow the directions of the attendants.

But most of all make sure you have fun!
