Families braved the cool weather over the weekend to enjoy warm, old-fashioned hospitality at the Jondaryan Woolshed’s four-day Winter Heritage Festival.

Jondaryan Woolshed General Manager, Rebecca Pope said almost 1,200 visitors donned their winter woollies to attend the anticipated event, feasting on warm damper and enjoying an action-packed program of traditional demonstrations and attractions.

“We were so lucky to have favourable weather for most of the event and visitors loved our line-up of affordable family-friendly activities and hot, Aussie tucker,” said Ms Pope.

“Damper making by the warm campfire was a bit hit and so were our homemade chicken and beef pies, camp oven stew and billy tea,” added Ms Pope.

Making their “Woolshed” debut was the Australian Great War Association Queensland. Reenactors marched around the grounds and curated an impressive display of authentic war memorabilia in the Bullock Arena.

“A highlight of the Festival was our Saturday night spit roast dinner featuring local singer, Terry Arnold. The event was a big hit, with almost 220 people packing into the Woolshed for the two-course buffet and live music,” said Ms Pope.

The Winter Heritage Festival featured a large machinery and tractor display, including a rare FWD Wagner tractor, a 1925 Road Roller and 1949 Societe Francaise Vierzon tractor.

“Over the past year, the Woolshed has been making strides to nurture, grow and evolve our heritage festival attractions, placing a high value on local partnerships,” said Ms Pope.

“We are truly humbled by the support of generous volunteers, community groups and businesses who have worked alongside us to deliver a Festival which showcases accurate working representations of our region’s rich history,” said Ms Pope.

The Jondaryan Woolshed will be running their Spring Heritage Festival from 27-30 September. Families are invited to enjoy another action-packed program.
