Queensland Yard and Utility Trial Association (QYUTA) is holding its annual State Utility Sheepdog Trail at the iconic Jondaryan Woolshed on the 26th – 28th of September 2025. The Woolshed, were history comes alive, will be buzzing with market stalls, fresh damper, horse drawn vehicle and mini train rides, the petting zoo, shearing demonstrations and sheepdog trials.
Utility trials are a uniquely Australian style of sheepdog trials that showcase the skills of an all-round muster dog. It is a combination event, that requires a dog to firstly gather stock from a large arena and then transition into a yard section. In the paddock element, dogs must demonstrate quiet control of stock which is achieved by accurate placement and distance. However, the yard section demands bravery and pushing of stock through races. A utility style of dog is a true assist and highly valued team member on any farm.
Come and cheer on the handlers and their dogs as they compete to claim a state title.
